The 413-8A woofers used in the Santiago Model 879A and Granada, is a 15 "woofer, 3 inch voice coil for use in sealed enclosure. This is the information I got on this woofer. I wonder if anyone has T / S parameters, sensitivity, etc. (I have a pair in 861B enclosure 3.5 ft cubic) Thanks, Martin

Only the 411, nearly everything about the 411 is unique and not shared by any other Altec woofer, even the frame is different and only shared by one or two duplex ceiling speakers(950-xx?).Originally Posted by valhallax
Martin, there might be specs posted at the T/S website, but i'd take them with a grain of salt as they could be a very "novice" submission and far from accurate. Your best bet is probably to seek someone local to you with analysis software/set-up and run the gamut on both your woofers.
A quick search here at Hostboard will bring up some informative threads on 413. It's production span was so brief that "official" specs may have never been published.

I am currently tria-amping SEP 6CA7 woofer (Altec 420y) Set 300B Edgar Tractrix Horn Midrange 250Hz (JBL LE5-2) Set 2A3 Eminence APT-50 tweeter. Electronic crossover
The idea is to replace the 420y with the 413 8A
Purely guess and speculation, but i'd expect the sensitivity of the 413 to be down at least 4 to 6 db from that of the 420.

I never tested the one I have, but I'd say they're the most forgiving of a small (sealed) box. Your 3.5 ft should be plenty. In a ~2ft box, mine plays the piano bottom octave with gusto.
(Not to say that a big vented box wouldn't work...) You do need to load it so xmax is avoided, they "snap" when they hit the stops. That's nasty.
